iGenogram is an iPad application designed to effortlessly create detailed genograms without the need for advanced graphic skills.
Genograms are invaluable tools for professionals in various fields such as LCSWs (Licensed Clinical Social Workers), MFTs (Marriage and Family Therapists), Relationship Counselors, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and AP Psychology students.
Within the realm of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), genograms play a pivotal role in diagnosing and treating individuals by revealing essential information about their personal history and family background.
Genograms find utility in a broad spectrum of fields ranging from marriage counseling to literary endeavors.
Creating precise, professional, and comprehensible diagrams traditionally demands a significant amount of time and artistic ability. Additionally, organizing notes gathered during analysis and counseling sessions can be labor-intensive.
With iGenogram, users can easily draw and update genograms using a variety of predefined symbols for depicting individuals, couples, parent-child relationships, emotional connections between individuals, and household structures where multiple people reside. For intricate situations not covered by existing symbols, free text labels can be added to individuals and relationships.
Furthermore, iGenogram provides the option to record dated textual notes documenting noteworthy family events or person-specific information. Events such as births and deaths are automatically logged. While these notes do not appear on the genogram itself, they can be accessed in a chronological list to explore connections between recorded incidents or as references for counseling or therapy sessions.
iGenogram generates visually appealing single or multi-page PDF diagrams and reports, which users can archive, print, export via email, or seamlessly integrate into various word processing applications on the iPad. Additionally, editable genogram documents are shareable via email for collaboration or preservation purposes.
The app features an intuitive Assistant function that offers contextual guidance for users throughout their genogram creation process. Should users encounter challenges, detailed help resources and instructional videos are readily accessible within the app.
Almost all graphic editing tasks within iGenogram, such as adding new individual or relationship symbols, can be completed efficiently through drag-and-drop actions. However, users also have the option of a simpler touch-based method if preferred. The app's Assistant remains available to offer support at every step.
To streamline diagram updates or rearrangements, users need only relocate individual symbols as iGenogram automatically adjusts all relationships (family ties, emotional connections, parent-child relationships, household representations).
